Government of Karnataka has decided to hold second Vishwa Kannada Sammelana (2nd World Kannada Meet) in BELGAUM (Karnataka State, India) on 11th, 12th & 13th March, 2011 on a grand scale. First Vishwa Kannada sammelana was held in Mysore during the year 1985.Belgaum District is in North-Western part of Karnataka and located bordering two States viz Maharastra and Goa. The name of Belgaum is originally found as ``Venugrama`` venu stands for bamboo (Bambusa aroundinacea). Belgaum District is endowed with a rich and variegated fauna and flora. Belgaum city is also known by its nick name ``Kundanagari`` (one of the famous sweet item called `Kunda`)
Belgaum District as a whole is an important place having rich cultural heritage and history. Veer Rani Kittur Channamma, Belavadi Mallamma, Sangolli Rayanna who fought against the British Empire for independence of India is the shining stars in the history of Karnataka. 

Many events are planned for the sammelana and it will be a 3 days extravaganza with events, exhibitions, film shows, literature and poetry symposia, discussion panels, sports, arts, culture and various other activities.
